How It Began
About Dr. Kai-Yun
I was born in Taiwan and raised in the U.S. I studied Speech Communication with a strong Pre-Med focus at the University of Washington, exploring human connection through an exchange in Japan and participating in research under the late Dr. Randall Curtis on hope and communication at end of life (PMID: 18454614). My curiosity about the intersection of communication, spirituality, and medicine later led me to Nepal and Tibet to study Tibetan medicine.
I completed Bastyr University’s rare dual-degree program, receiving my Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (ND) and Master of Science in Acupuncture & Chinese Herbal Medicine, a six-year, 3,000+ hour curriculum integrating biomedical training with classical East Asian medicine. During this time, I also held multiple leadership and representative roles, strengthening my ability to collaborate, facilitate, and lead with purpose.
After my formal education, I refined my clinical skills through training in Shanghai and Taipei, and later practiced in the Iowa City area before establishing my practice in Los Angeles.
Rooted in lineage, shaped by global experience, and refined through rigorous training, I bring an integrative, open-minded, and patient-centered approach to healing.
